The Food Reserve Agency (FRA) has announced that it will buy a 50kg bag of white maize at K347 during this year’s crop marketing season.
The announcement sets the floor price at which the Agency will purchase maize from farmers across the country as the marketing season gets underway.
The FRA remains one of the key players in Zambia’s agricultural marketing system, purchasing maize from smallholder and commercial farmers to build strategic grain reserves, stabilise prices, and ensure national food security.
The pricing announcement comes at a time when farmers, cooperatives, and other stakeholders in the agricultural sector are keenly watching maize marketing arrangements for the season, with the floor price expected to influence farmer incomes and planting decisions in subsequent seasons.
Further details on satellite depot locations, payment procedures, and the marketing timeline are expected to be communicated by the Agency in due course.
