The Office of the Auditor General continued engaging members of the public at the 98th Zambia Agricultural and Commercial Show in Lusaka, helping visitors understand its mandate and access published audit reports.
At the OAG stand, showgoers interacted directly with staff and received information about the institution’s role in auditing public resources and supporting transparency, accountability and good governance.
Bringing public audit work closer to citizens
Audit reports have a reputation for being dry and distant. What they’re really about is how your tax money and mining royalties get spent. That’s what the OAG’s stand at the show is trying to close: a chance for ordinary showgoers to ask questions, pick up a report, and see for themselves what the office actually checks.

Why public access to audit reports matters
When audit findings are easy to get hold of, journalists, businesses and civil-society groups can actually follow up on them u2014 whether institutions fixed the problems flagged, and whether taxpayers got value for money.
