LUSAKA, Zambia — President Hakainde Hichilema and the First Lady this afternoon received Her Royal Highness Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh, at Community House in Lusaka.
“The First Lady and I were delighted to receive Her Royal Highness Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh, here at Community House this afternoon,” President Hichilema said.
A longstanding bilateral relationship
The President used the occasion to reaffirm the depth of ties between the two countries. “Zambia and the UK share a warm and longstanding bilateral relationship,” he said.
Education takes centre stage
The Duchess’ visit has placed a particular focus on education, a theme President Hichilema welcomed directly. “The Duchess’ focus on Education during her visit is particularly welcome as we continue to promote opportunities for Zambia students to learn at home and abroad,” he said.
Beyond education: a wider cooperation agenda
President Hichilema said Zambia and the UK would continue building on the relationship across a broader set of sectors. “We look forward to continued cooperation in areas such as tourism, investment, mining, education, health, and the green economy, among others,” he said.
