We would rather correct an error quickly and visibly than leave it standing. This page explains how to report one and what we do next.
Reporting an error
Send us the article title, the URL, and a clear description of what you believe is wrong, ideally with the source that supports your version. Email info@zambianeconomist.com or call +260 775 574 228.
What we correct
- Material factual errors, a wrong figure, date, name, attribution or calculation. These are corrected as soon as they are confirmed.
- Superseded data, where a statistical agency revises a figure we published, we update the article and note the revision.
- Typographical and formatting errors, corrected without a published note.
How corrections appear
A corrected article carries a dated note at the foot recording what was changed and when. Where the error was significant enough to affect a reader’s understanding of the piece, the note appears at the top instead. We do not quietly alter a published figure and leave no trace.
Substantially updated articles
Some of our articles are living references that we refresh as new data is released. These carry a visible last-updated date. Refreshing data is not the same as correcting an error, and we distinguish between the two.
Right of reply
An organisation or individual who believes we have characterised them inaccurately may respond in writing. Where the point is factual we will correct it. Where it is a matter of interpretation we will consider publishing the response.
Timeline
We aim to acknowledge every correction request within two working days and to resolve it within five.
